INTERNAL THERMAL BARRIER COATING TBC

The Finest In Liquid Spray Coatings...

DESCRIPTION:

TBC is a Thermal Barrier Coating designed to be applied to the internal surface of exhaust components. This is a true thermal barrier and will keep the heat of the exhaust gases from going through to the external substrate. It provides the Aerospace, Automotive, Marine and Mining Industries with an internal barrier to protect components from high temperature, oxidation, and chemical corrosion. This is a perfect compliment to our R05 coating.

TYPICAL USES:

TBC is a Thermal barrier coating for automotive, aviation, and aerospace components. It is used primarily for coating exhaust components because of its ability to protect substrates from absorbing heat and radiating it to nearby components. Coating is applied to the inside of exhaust headers, exhaust pipes, and diesel stacks. It can also be applied to the inside of boxes, cabinents, and compartments in which you need to insualte the internal products from heat.

APPLICATION:

Preparation: Parts to be coated should be clean and contaminant free. TBC can be applied directly to ground, cast, or highly machined surfaces. The best performance has been found on metal surfaces that have been media blasted so the surface has a random profile. Certain surface pre-treatments can further enhance the performance of the coating.
Application: TBC is specially formulated and supplied for use in a conventional air-spray gun, or by a flow-coat method via sponge brush. A spray booth is advisable. Make sure the working area is adequately ventilated and observe the usual precautions for spray painting. Keep the product well-mixed both in the gun reservoir and circulating to and from the spray nozzle. The surface should be coated as evenly as possible. A cured film thickness of 0.00075 to 0.002 inch (0.019 to 0.051 mm) is recommended. Stir well before and during use. Dipping is also an adequate method if uniformity is not essential.
Curing: Suggested cure times are: 30 minutes at 400°C/750°F, or an ambient cure of 25°C/ 77°F for 48 hours. Actual curing time will vary with substrate size, mass, material, coating thickness, type of oven and many other factors.
Additional information: Because solids tend to settle rapidly, it is ideal to keep material agitated continuously. Keep container sealed to prevent hydrolysis and solvent loss. TBC requires no dilution.
